Darrell's Graduation

My oldest brother, Darrell, graduated from Western Kentucky University today. He is 43 years old. Christi, his wife, just had their 6th child on Thursday. It was another boy. They now have 5 boys and a girl. Whew! But, if anybody can do it, I know they can.

I'm glad Pete and I were able to go and watch the ceremony. Mom also went and looked very beautiful. She was actually glowing from being so proud of her son. Uncle David, Aunt Becky, and Paula came as well. They helped to keep the boys busy.

Well, I know Dad was there too grinning from ear to ear. I know he is very proud of his first born, as well as all 3 of his kids. All of us have graduated from college now and I know our parents had a lot to do with that. Darrell set a great example for all his kids today. Congrats Darrell! I love you. Pete and I are very proud of you.

Primary Activity

Lucas enjoyed learning about how to build an eternal family. At the beginning of the activity, they were each given a building permit with four empty spaces. Each time they went to a different station, they received a sticker to go on their building permit. The different stations were: House of Order, House of Faith, House of Learning, and House of Prayer. Sis. Holly was "Sister Builder." She lead them to the different stations and explained how each helped to build an eternal family. Sis. Tuck, Sis. Crafton, Sis. Gates, and Sis. Mckee all sure did a wonderful job in making this primary activity a success. Thank you!

Buds

Papaw Randy and Lucas usually watch cartoons together when we are at Nana's. Here they are playing Rook together.

Mother's Day

This morning we went to church as always. However, we left right after Sacrement to surprise Pete's Mamaw and Mom at their church. Boy, they were surprised! Their pastor gave a wonderful sermon on mothers being godly mothers and letting Christ's light shine through us to our children. I know I try to be a good mom but I know I have many things to work on. I have always said I'll never be able to be as good a mother as my mom. She was always smiling and singing, even when she was feeling bad. I'm bad about letting everyone know when I'm not in the best of spirits or feeling well. Yugh! After church, everyone came back to our us to eat. Randy and Papaw came up too. Then, several of us played Rook. It was beautiful outside today again. Thank you Lord, for the wonderful Mother's Day and beautiful weather.

Mother's Day

David called this morning and asked what we were up to. I was at work, trying to get in some hours so I don't spend the entire summer working. But, of course, I was all but happy to come home and visit with the Minton Family. I invited them over for a cook out. They were at Mom's. She came with them. When I got home from work, Pete and the boys had cleaned the house. I told Pete it was going to be the best Mother's Day ever! The house was clean and I was going to have some of the Mintons over. We had a big time, especially the kids. We ate really good too. It was a beautiful day outside. It didn't rain like it has been for days and days. We are so glad we got to spend time with the Minton's. We don't get to see each other enough. They are such a sweet family and so fun to be with. Thanks for making my Mother's Day the best! I think Mom enjoyed it as much as me too. Happy Mother's Day Mom! We love you!

Family Night

I decided we needed to have a family night out since we seldom do this. We went out to eat and took the boys to play miniature golf. Lucas had never played before. He was funny because it didn't matter how many times it took for him to hit it in the hole, he would count and tell you honestly what it was. He was there for a good time no matter what. Cody and I played pretty good, but Dad came out on top. Congrats Dad! (I couldn't bear to hurt his manly ego when it comes to sports.) Ha! No, truthly, I tried my darndest to beat him, and we were neck and neck until the 16th hole. We had lots of fun. However, at the last hole, Lucas was not happy when the ball disappeared. LOL!

Saying Goodbye

My Aunt Nancy passed away this past Wednesday, April 29th. She had recently been diagnosed with Lymphomia cancer. It was in stage 4 when they found it. She had been in the hospital for almost a month. The last time I saw her alive was Tuesday evening. I knew she didn't seem to be doing good. She wasn't responsive that day. Wednesday when I got to work, Pauline had sent word she had a bad night. So, I called Pete at home to tell him he might want to get up there and give her a blessing. He called a bit later to say he was headed up there with President Brooks. Then, an hour or so later, he called to tell me she had passed. Grandpa, Pres. Brooks, and Pete were able to give her a blessing before she passed. Yesterday was the funeral. It was a dark and rainy day. Pete, the boys, and I all went. Pete and my two brothers were pall bearers. It was a sad day because we had to say goodbye. However, it was a happy day in knowing she was well and finally with my dad and their mom and not in pain any more. I sure loved Aunt Nancy. What I remember most is her smile. Dad and her both smiled all the time. I'm glad I got to be with her quite a bit these past few years since she had started coming back to church. Pete and I were the only ones that ever took her to the temple. I know she appreciated that and we loved taking her. She will be greatly missed. This slide show is dedicated to my Aunt Nancy and the love she showed to all who knew her. This is for you too Dad. I love and miss you tons. Be sure and tell Aunt Nancy some good jokes.
